Serendipity Mercantile –
Your Local Boutique!
Meet the Team

Laura Burke
Owner
I am a Peoria, IL native who loves all things coffee, traveling, being active and reading a great book.
My husband Nick and I live locally in the Bloomington Normal area. We could truly never have imagined all that Serendipity Mercantile has become, but it is a great joy to create in this space, become friends with our customers, and support local small businesses/organizations with our monthly giving.
We would love for you to come in and experience the uplifting music, variety of products and goods we offer, and grab a treat or drink for the road! We can almost guarantee you will be sure to find a special treasure with each visit! We can’t wait to meet you!

Tracy Tobin
Store Manager
I’m so thankful that God has brought me to the Serendipity Mercantile family! I’ve spent most of my life in the Twin City area, & there isn’t another shop like it around!
After graduating from Normal Community High School, I attended Illinois Wesleyan University & earned a BA in Business Administration, with concentrations in Insurance & Accounting. My husband, Brian, & I have been married for over 30 years & we moved our 4 kids (who are now adults) to rural Lexington in 2008.
I love great coffee, crafting, spoiling people with sweet treats, glamping with my amazing hubs, & traveling anywhere to spend time with my precious kiddos!
I also enjoy giving used treasures new life, & appreciate the creativity & talent that our vendors display through their products. Serving our incredible customers & giving back to our community alongside my dear friend, Laura, & the fabulous Serendipity team is an incredible joy. I invite you to come into the store & be a part of what God is doing. It’s not just the music, beauty, yummy smells, & friendly smiles–it’s also a place of mission, peace, & encouragement…& who couldn’t use a little more of that?
Our Vendors
Have a product you’d like to sell? Apply to be one of our vendors. Vendors are invited based on sales on 4 week rotations. Stop by the front desk for more info.
A large portion of our shop includes local vendors. Giving back to those in need is something we are passionate about, but we also wanted to support other small businesses.
